"A decision in this regard was taken during a meeting of party office-bearers which was chaired by state president Laxmi Kant Bajpai," BJP spokesman Vijay Bahadur Pathak told reporters here.

He said that the state president Bajpai has requested senior workers to fix their membership target for themselves.

He said, in a bid to increase its base in all sections of the society, people of all communities would be made members and associated with the party.

"It has been decided to lay special emphasis on enrolling SC/ST, backward, women and youths, specially first time voters as the member of the party," Pathak said.

Special efforts would be made to strengthen party's organisational structure in rural areas, the spokesman said.
