BJP to lay siege to state secretariat

Opposition BJP in Karnataka has decided to lay siege to Vidhana Soudha, the state secretariat, here tomorrow to protest against Congress government over a host of issues, including incidents of rape, Tipu Sultan Jayanti celebrations and the violence that followed it.

BJP workers lead by state President Pralhad Joshi, former Chief Ministers B S Yeddyurappa, Jagadish Shettar and others will be "storming" Vidhana Soudha tomorrow, the party in a statement said.

After addressing the party workers, they will march in a procession towards Vidhana Soudha where ten-day session of the state legislature is underway till November 27.

The BJP is protesting against rising incidents of rape, and demanding the resignation of Social Welfare Minister Anjaneya following a sting operation by a TV channel on his wife which allegedly showed her accepting bribe of Rs 7 lakh for a tender pertaining to his department.
 

The BJP is also holding Siddaramaiah responsible for violence that followed the Tipu Jayanti celebrations on November 10.

The celebrations which were held amidst protest by a few pro-Hindu outfits had lead to death of two persons, including a VHP leader in Kodagu district, and a man was stabbed in Bantwal taluk near Mangaluru.

BJP had boycotted Tipu Jayanti celebrations.
