Although the BJP Minority Morcha claimed that it has inducted 30 lakh new members belonging to minority communities during the recent membership drive, the party today said it does not believe in dividing its members on caste or religious basis.

"A lot of people, including those from minorities, have got connected with the party. But we do not divide them on caste or religious lines. We treat them equally," BJP national spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain said.

BJP's Minority Morcha head Abdul Rasheed Ansari has said the morcha through its efforts inducted 30 lakh new members during the membership drive.

He claimed that out of this, over four lakh new members are from Madhya Pradesh, over two lakh from Gujarat and over 1.5 lakh from Uttar Pradesh.

Hussain also claimed that the NDA government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has through impartial work proved its detractors wrong on treatment towards minorities.

"BJP never sees people through Hindu or Muslim glasses. We see everyone equally. It is right that the brigade that was doing propaganda against us ahead of elections that Narendra Modi's government will not prove good for minorities, are today hiding.

"This government through its work has proved them wrong. They feel the way they had created a fear psychosis among minorities, this one year has been of communal harmony. There may have been some statements, but through the work done by this government no one can say that it is working in favour or against any one," Hussain said.

He said the Prime Minister's "glasses do not see any Hindu, Muslim, Sikh or Christian... He believes in 'sabka saath, sabka vikas'.
