A senior BJP leader from the Seemandhra region U Srinivasa Raju has asked Telugu Desam Party (TDP) dissidents who have filed their nominations from seats allocated to the BJP by the TDP, to follow what he called political alliance "dharma" (duty).

Raju told reporters here on Wednesday that in many seats allocated to the BJP by the TDP, as part of their alliance, TDP dissidents have filed their nominations, despite the TDP issuing instructions against doing so.

He said this situation could damage BJP's chances of winning and ultimately damage relations between TDP and BJP.

He also requested the TDP leadership to take initiatives to get TDP dissdents to withdraw contesting from seats allocated to the BJP.

Raju is hopeful of BJP's success in the polls and said the trend had favoured the BJP in many states where polling is over. The present trend would take the BJP above the half way mark independently, he said.

He said that the situation in Seemandhra may also improve after the whirlwind tour of BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi during the first week of May.
