BJP today said if voted to power it will create a separate development authority, on the lines of Delhi Development Authority (DDA), for all round development of unauthorised colonies and rural areas.
"This would drastically change the system of providing facilities like education, health, roads, transport, sewerage, power and water, other basic amenities, housing, employment and increasing income of every family," said Harsh Vardhan, BJP's Chief Ministerial candidate for Delhi.
Blaming the Congress government for poor conditions of Delhi villages, he said there are 1,639 unauthorised colonies in Delhi and 400 urban and rural villages.
"The condition in these villages is worse than those of other backward states. It is surprising that even after 66 years after independence, 40 per cent people of Delhi are not getting drinking water supplied by the Government," he said.
He accused Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit of not trying to solve the problems of 40 lakh people of unauthorised colonies, urban and rural villages and migrants living in Delhi during the last 15 years.
"Congress is the ruling party for the last 15 years in Delhi but it has done nothing for the betterment of these colonies and villages. People feel cheated," he said, adding that ahead of every elections she makes false promises to people and later leaves them in lurch.
"In spite of an announcement by Delhi Government, registry of properties has not started in unauthorised colonies," he added.
Meanwhile, Vardhan also said that about 4,00000 first time voters would vote for the party.
"Delhi youth are serious about voting and their thinking is development oriented. These people will certainly exercise their right to vote. They know that Congress is going to be defeated in the next elections and BJP was directly fighting the party," he said.
So far, 3.76 lakh youth have applied to the Election Commission to be made voters in Delhi.
The number of young voters was largest in Kirari, Burari, New Delhi, Shalimar Bagh, Rohini, Rithala, Trilokpuri, Patparganj, Karawal Nagar, Sangam Vihar, Delhi Cantonment, Sadar Bazar assembly constituencies.
Vardhan also said presently 11 lakh youth were unemployed in Delhi.
"After coming to power, BJP would provide employment and self employment opportunities to 22 lakh hands. Seats in school and colleges would be increased and new colleges and schools would be opened as BJP was committed to make Delhi a fully literate state," Vardhan said.
