In a view of the attack on its MLA Jeetendra Singh Shunty, the BJP today called upon Lt Governor Najeeb Jung and Police Commissioner B S Bassi to review security of those MLAs who are facing a security threat.
"MLAs have to meet different kind of people everyday. We are not demanding a security cover for MLAs, but requesting LG and Police Commissioner to review security of those MLAs who are facing a threat," Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay told reporters here.
Upadhyay said that in a recent meeting with Bassi, we had said that there was a mafia in the national Capital who are threat to some people, including MLAs who serve the people for 24 hours.

Upadhay said that Shunty was also attacked in the past and even now he was being threatened by the illegal encroachers.
"Shunty has been continuously fighting against illegal encroachments on Delhi-UP border and he had tried to remove encroachments as a councilor. He was attacked in past and in such situation, the police should have provided protection but it is regrettable that he had personally demanded security from the Police Commissioner in the last week but the police did not take any action," he added.
Upadhyay also said the SDMC has decided to grant exemption from house tax to outstanding sports persons who have excelled at the international level and persons who have become handicapped or sacrificed their life on army, police or corporation duty.
"Other Corporations of Delhi shall also pass a resolution to this effect and implement it soon," Upadhyay added.
