BJP's Puducherry unit today welcomed the ordinance promulgated by President to defer holding of NEET for admission to medical courses.

In a statement here, president of local unit of BJP R V Saminathan said that the Centre's move to postpone the test would be of great help to students hailing from rural areas and also from socio economic background.

If NEET was adopted the students from villages and other weaker sections would face the ordeal to compete with urban elite students.

Saminathan also suggested to the government to take stern steps including withdrawal of recognition of the colleges collecting hefty donations.
