"The BJP will support the Trinamool Congress in Parliament, if it wants, on its demand for a financial package to bail out the debt-ridden state," Singh told a rally here.
"The previous Left Front government had left a huge debt burden of Rs two lakh crore, which the TMC-led government inherited when it came to power in the state a year back," the former national president of BJP said.
"If the Centre is not giving the financial package despite repeated requests, why is Mamataji not taking a tough stand?" Singh wondered referring to her demand for a three-year moratorium on interest payment on central loans.
He said that Banerjee should remind the Congress that the UPA government at the Centre was running on Trinamool Congress support.
"If the financial help is not forthcoming, Trinamool Congress should not carry on repeating its request and should tell the Congress that it is withdrawing support and come out of the government at the Centre," Singh said.
Expressing surprise that Banerjee, with her impeccable record, should support "a corrupt government", Singh noted, "Since the UPA came to power, prices of essentials have been rising constantly." MORE
