Buoyed by the early trends indicating a rout for Congress across the country and also in Maharashtra, the BJP workers today broke into celebrations at the state party office here in South Mumbai.

Shouting slogans like 'desh ka PM kaisa ho, Narendra Modi jaisa ho...Har har Modi...Ghar Ghar Modi', the party activists also distributed laddoos to each other.

As per the trends available so far, most of Sena-BJP candidates are surging ahead of their Congress rivals in the state.

In Mumbai, Shiv Sena's Arvind Sawant is leading from South Mumbai seat against Congress' Milind Deora, while BJP's Poonam Mahajan is ahead of her rival and sitting Congress MP Priya Dutt in Mumbai North Central.

"People have given a decisive mandate. We have seen the tsunami of Modi. We are seeing that big leaders are being washed out. (with this result) our responsibility has increased manifold....The credit goes to our captain Narendra Modi and under his leadership it is the win for NDA," said state unit BJP president Devendra Fadnavis.
