BJP workers protest as 7-time Varanasi(S) MLA denied ticket

Several BJP workers, disgruntled over party ticket being denied to a seven-time MLA from Varanasi South constituency, shouted anti-party slogans and lodged their protest here.

They also gheraoed state unit president Keshav Prasad Maurya and party vice-president Om Prakash Mathur when they wereholding a meeting here.

The two senior leaders were meeting the party's office- bearers from Kashi region under which 14 districts of eastern Uttar Pradesh fall.

The protesters were miffed over ticket being denied to Shyam Deo Roy Chaudhary, sitting MLA from Varanasi South seat.

Earlier in the day, some workers also protested in front of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's local parliamentary office in Ravindrapuri.
