Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya said today the BJP was the only political party which was continuously working for the upliftment of people belonging to backward classes both in the state and across the country.
Speaking at a meeting organised by the party's backward cell here, Maurya said, "Non-BJP parties, which have been in power in the country and in the state, have only used the OBC people as a vote-bank, and have not worked for their interests".
He urged the gathering to ensure that the BJP under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi gets an overwhelming mandate in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
"Prime Minister Narendra Modi has paved way for the upliftment of the backward class people by giving constitutional status to the National Commission for Backward Castes," he said.
