BJP would form a majority govt in UP in 2017 state polls: Om Prakash Mathur

The BJP leader is on his visit to the state after being appointed as its party in-charge

BJP leader and party in-charge of Uttar Pradesh Om Prakash Mathur today said that the party would form a majority government in the state in 2017 assembly elections.

"BJP will form a majority government in 2017," said Mathur, who is on his first visit to the state after being appointed as its party in-charge.

Mathur, who would launch BJP's membership campaign in the state today, said that his meeting with the leaders was regarding this drive.

"Our target is to make maximum members and ensure that membership reaches every section of the society," he said.

Mathur has been appointed as UP in-charge of BJP after Amit Shah was elevated as the party's national president.
 

Mathur, a Rajya Sabha MP, would also meet the party office-bearers in the evening.

BJP has set a target of making one crore members during the membership drive which would continue till March 31 next year.

The drive would be carried out online and offline.
