Expressing concern over the reported detention of Indian drivers by the Pakistan authorities, BJP today wrote to External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid demanding their immediate release.

BJP Rajya Sabha MP and in-charge of party affairs in Jammu and Kashmir Avinash Rai Khanna has written the letter to Khurshid expressing his concern over the reported detention of the Indian drivers despite the fact that they "are innocent".

"Please ask the Pakistani government about the above incident. India should request to Pakistan to help in the release of the drivers," Khanna has written.

Khanna said Pakistan had taken this action simply in retaliation to the arrest of a Pakistani driver who was apprehended carrying drugs, according to a BJP spokesperson.

Khanna has requested Khurshid to immediately intervene and secure early release of the drivers.
