The BJP's youth wing has demanded the resignation of the AMU Vice Chancellor over the issue of not allowing entry of undergraduate girls of the University in the central Maulana Azad Library.

In a letter to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, General Secretary of the ABVP district unit, Nikhil Maheshwari has said that the gender bias against women at the AMU was a symptom of backward thinking and has no place in modern society.

Earlier, yesterday evening, ABVP members burnt an effigy of AMU Vice Chancellor Zameer Uddin Shah at the Dharm Samaj Degree College in the old city.

The protesters were raising slogans against Shah when the police arrived on the spot and dispersed the agitators.
