BJP youth wing activists today held a protest and burnt effigy of Pakistan government here against the killing of five Indian soldiers along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir, prompting authorities to divert a Lahore-Delhi bus.

The Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha activists also burnt effigy of Congress-led UPA government for its alleged continued failure on security front.

Due to the protest, the international bus service plying between Lahore and Delhi was affected as the bus coming from Lahore side skipped Phagwara and was diverted through Kartarpur, Kapurthala, Nakodar, Noormehal, Barapind and Phillaur, sources said.

However, the bus coming from Delhi side, which was running about an hour behind the diverted bus, would go via its normal route to Lahore, the sources said.

Earlier, the protesters marched from Gol chowk to bus stand, shouting angry slogans against Pakistan and the UPA government.

In a provocative attack, a group of 20 heavily-armed men led by Pakistani troops entered 450 metres into the Indian territory in Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir yesterday and ambushed a patrol killing five Indian soldiers.
