BJP's youth wing BJYM today said it is launching an ambitious membership drive and will try to encash on the growing popularity of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi among the young to woo them into its fold.

"Since the time BJP has made Modi as head of its Election Campaign Committee, country's youth want to associate themselves with the party with great vigour. It is a known fact that India is one of the youngest nations of the world where more than 65 per cent population comprises young people," BJYM President Anurag Thakur told reporters.

The Bhartiya Janata Yuva Morcha will reach out to the youth through social media, Internet, mobiles and telephone.

"The first 500 youths to do maximum enrolment from across India and those 20 youths who give the best suggestions via social media or in writing for the upcoming 2014 Lok Sabha elections will be invited to have a personal meeting with Modi," Thakur said.

BJYM has set a target of enrolling one crore youth in BJP and BJYM through this drive which will be launched in two phases with the first phase starting on July 15.

"Second phase of this membership will commence from July 23, the birth anniversary of great revolutionary Chandrashekhar Azad. This will be a door to door membership drive," Thakur said.

First time voters, rural youths, backward and Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes and successful young men and women between the age group of 18 and 35 years will be enrolled on priority basis in this special campaign.

"Conference, seminars and rallies will be organised to connect with the youth. I believe that young India is going to play a crucial role in coming general elections and can be agents of change for a prosperous Bharat," Thakur said.

BJYM has given the slogan "Judega Yuva - Badlega Bharat (Young will associate and change India)".
