The RSS-affiliated farmers' body, Bharatiya Kisan Sangh (BKS), will organise a rally at Delhi's Ramlila Grounds on September 12 to push for five major demands, a BKS leader said.
"The Sangh will organise a massive rally in support of its five major demands including making agriculture a profitable venture on the basis of its input costs, guaranteed purchase of all agriculture produce on profit basis and banning acquisition of agricultural land for other purposes, among others," BKS's National Organisational Secretary Dinesh Kulkarni told reporters here today.
Nearly five lakh farmers from across the country are expected to take part in the rally to build pressure on the government on these issues.
Other BKS demands include, making separate budget for agriculture, withdrawal of a bill proposed to privatise water and seeds, as well as changing the name of the Land Acquisition Bill to the 'Land Use Bill' by creating a provision to grant farmers the rights over the acquired land, he said.
