Addressing a farmers' meeting here at the collectorate, BKU President Naresh Tikait claimed that farmers were only getting 3-4 hours of supply a day.

He urged the state government to provide adequate power supply for irrigation purposes and if necessary cut the supply of industries.

The BKU which also staged a dharna at the collectorate, came down heavily on the state electricity department for denying farmers power connections for tubewells.

Tikait said the organisation would launch an agitation if the government failed to provide adequate power supply for irrigation to farmers.
