Bharatiya Kisan Union, agitating against the alleged anti-farmer policies of Centre and Punjab government today demanded steps to check what the party claimed increasing number of suicides by farmers and labourers.
The five-day agitation today entered third day which was launched in 12 districts against the alleged anti-farmer policies of the Punjab and the Union governments.
Joginder Singh Ugrahan, President of BKU (Ekta) and Sukhdev Singh Kokari, General Secretary of BKU (Ugrahan) said farmers will burn effigies of Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Prime Minister Narendra Modi tomorrow in several districts in protest against their "adamant" attitude towards farmers demands.
Protesters have also been demanding a waiver of crop loans.
