BKU leader Rajbir Singh claimed the decision to suspend the agitation last night was taken after receiving assurances from the police and district administration.
Sources in the district administration however said no assurances were given.
On a complaint by the company in charge of running the Dasna toll plaza, the Additional District Magistrate served notices on six BKU leaders including Singh for forcibly halting toll collection.
SP (Ghaziabad Rural) Jagdish Sharma and ADM Chunku Ram Patel had yesterday met the protestors before the announcement was made.
BKU activists had seized control of the toll plaza last Sunday to register their opposition to the road levy on farmers. They were demanding exemption of toll tax to farmers and other labourers who live in a radius of 10-kms of toll point.
