Black pepper, copra drop on subdued demand

Black pepper prices dropped further at the spices market here today due to subdued demand from stockists and retailers.

Elsewhere, copra also weakened following poor demand from stockists and retailers amid lower export offtake.

While, ginger unbleached ruled steady in absence of any large-scale buying activity.

Black pepper slipped by Rs 10/10 per kg to Rs 540/630 from Wednesday's close of Rs 550/640.

Copra rajapur Mumbai declined by Rs 200 per quintal to Rs 10,300 as against Rs 10,500 yesterday.

Copra office Alappuzha, copra office Kozhikode and copra edible Mumbai also moved down by Rs 100 per quintal to Rs 9,000, Rs 8,900 and Rs 9,600 as compared to yesterday's close of Rs 9,100, Rs 9,000 and Rs 9,700 respectively.

Black pepper (per kg) 540/630 (550/640), ginger unbleached (per kg) 120 (120) copra office Alappuzha (per quintal) 9,000 (9,100), copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 8,900 (9,000), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 10,300 (10,500), copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 9,600 (9,700).
