Black pepper drops on low demand

Black pepper dropped at the spices market here today on low demand from stockists and retailers.

Elsewhere, copra office alapuzha and copra office kozhikode also declined owing to subdued demand from stockists and retailers amid poor offtake from exporters.

Rest all other spices including ginger unbleached, copra rajapur and copra edible ruled stable in the absence of any major buying.

Black pepper moved down by Rs 10/10 per kg to Rs 450/540 from Wednesday's close level of Rs 460/550.

Copra office alapuzha and copra office kozhikode fell by Rs 200 per quintal each to Rs 12,000 and Rs 11,800 as against Rs 12,200 and Rs 12,000 yesterday.

Black pepper (per kg) 450/540 (450/540), Ginger unbleached (per kg) 135 (135), Copra office Alappuzha (per quintal) 12,000 (12,200), Copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 11,800 (12,000), Copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 17,000 (17,000), Copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 14,000 (14,000).
