Black pepper firms up in thin trade

Black pepper rd firmed up in an otherwise listless spices market here today following sustained demand from stockists and retailers.

Copra rajapur Mumbai and copra edible Mumbai market closed today.

Rest all other prices held steady in the absence of any major buying.

Black pepper rd rose by Rs 10/10 per kg to Rs 370/420 from Tuesday's closing level of Rs 360/410.

Following are today's closing rates (in Rs with previous rates in brackets):

Black pepper (per kg) 370/420 (360/410), ginger unbleached (per kg) 165 (165), copra office Alappuzha (per quintal) 12,200 (12,200), copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 12,000 (12,000), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) closed (19,700), copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) closed (14,800).
