Black pepper, ginger climb in lacklustre trade

Black pepper and ginger prices surged in an otherwise lacklustre spices market here today due to good demand from retailers as well as exporters amidst upcountry advices.

While copra edible and copra rajapur ruled stable in the absence of any worthwhile buying activity.

Copra office Alapuzha and copra office Kozhikode prices unavailable due to holiday.

Black pepper shot-up by Rs 65/85 per kg to Rs 675/710 from last Saturday's closing level of Rs 580/625.

Ginger bleached and unbleached moved-up by Rs 15 per kg each to Rs 300 and Rs 315 as against Rs 285 and Rs 300, respectively.

Black pepper (per kg) 675/710 (580/625), ginger bleached (per kg) 300 (285), ginger unbleached (per kg) 315 (300), copra office Alapuzha (per quintal) closed (10,500), copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) closed (10,300), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 14,000 (14,000), Copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 11,000 (11,000).
