Black pepper, ginger declines on lower demand

Prices of black pepper and ginger declined at the spice market here today following subdued demand from stockists and exporters fresh arrivals.

While, rest all other spices maintained a stable trend owing to lack of buying support.

Black pepper slipped by Rs 5 per kg to Rs 660/735 from Monday's closing level of Rs 660/740.

Ginger bleached and unbleached both eased by Rs 5 per kg each to Rs 240 and Rs 260 as compared to Rs 245 and Rs 265 respectively.

Following are today's closing rates (in Rs with previous rates in brackets):

Black pepper (per kg) 660/735 (660/740), ginger bleached (per kg) 240 (245), ginger unbleached (per kg) 260 (265), copra office Alapuzha (per quintal) 8,300 (8,300), copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 8,100 (8,100), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 16,500 (16,500), copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 10,000 (10,000).
