Black pepper, ginger ease on subdued demand

Prices of black pepper and ginger eased further at the spice market here today following subdued demand from stockists and exporters amid fresh arrivals from producing belts.

While, rest all other spices ruled stable owing to absence of large-scale buying support.

Black pepper fell by Rs 5 per kg to Rs 665/735 from last Saturday's closing level of Rs 670/740.

Ginger bleached and unbleached both moved down by Rs 5 per kg each to Rs 235 and Rs 255 against Rs 240 and Rs 260, respectively.

Following are today's closing rates (in Rs with previous rates in brackets):

Black pepper (per kg) 665/735 (670/740), ginger bleached (per kg) 235 (240), ginger unbleached (per kg) 255 (260), copra office Alapuzha (per quintal) 7,800 (7,800), copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 7,600 (7,600), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 16,300 (16,300), copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 9,300 (9,300).
