Black pepper, ginger gain on rising demand

Black pepper and ginger prices gained further at the spices market following rising demand stockists and exporters.

While, rest of all spices ruled stable owing to absence of large-scale buying support.

Black pepper moved up by Rs 4 per kg to Rs 745/815 from Monday's closing level of Rs 741/811.

Ginger bleached and unbleached rose by Rs 5 per kg each to Rs 215 and Rs 235 as against Rs 210 and Rs 230, respectively.

Following are today's closing rates (in Rs with previous rates in brackets):

Black pepper (per kg) 745/815 (741/811), ginger bleached (per kg) 215 (210), ginger unbleached (per kg) 235 (230), copra office Alapuzha (per quintal) 7,400 (7,400), copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 7,300 (7,300), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 16,200 (16,200), copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 9,100 (9,100).
