Black pepper prices recover in renewed demand

Black pepper prices recovered at the spices market here today following renewed demand from stockists and retailers.

Meanwhile, ginger unbleached eased owing to subdued offtake from stockist and retailers.

Rest of the spices ruled stable in the absence of any worthwhile buying activity.

Copra office Alapuzha and copra office Kozhikode market remained closed today on account of Hartal.

Black pepper moved up Rs 10 per kg to Rs 620/690 from Wednesday's closing level of Rs 610/680.

However, ginger unbleached fell by Rs 10 kg to Rs 125 as against Rs 135.

Following are today's closing rates (in Rs) with previous rates in brackets:
 

Black pepper (per kg) 610/680 (620/690), ginger unbleached (per kg) 125 (135), copra office Alappuzha (per quintal) closed (9,600), copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) closed (9,500), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 11,200 (11,200), copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 10,200 (10,200).
