Black pepper rebounds on renewed demand

Black pepper prices rebounded in an otherwise lackluster spices market here today following renewed demand from stockists and exporters amid poor supply.

All other spices ruled stable in the absence of any major buying activity.

Black pepper rose by Rs 5/10 per kg to Rs 740/810 from Thursday's closing level of Rs 735/800.

Following are today's closing rates (in Rs with previous rates in brackets):

Black pepper (per kg) 740/810 (735/800), ginger bleached (per kg) 160 (160), ginger unbleached (per kg) 180 (180), copra office Alappuzha (per quintal) 5,600 (5,600), copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 5,500 (5,500), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 9,800 (9,800), copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 7,100 (7,100).
