Black pepper strengthens in listless trade

Black pepper strengthened further in an otherwise listless spices market here today owing to sustained buying by domestic consumers amid limited supplies.

While, rest all other spices held steady in the absence of any large scale buying activity.

Black pepper rose by Rs 6/6 per kg to Rs 631/731 from Wednesday's closing level of Rs 625/725.

Following are today's closing rates (in Rs with previous rates in brackets):

Black pepper (per kg) 631/731 (625/725), ginger bleached (per kg) 230 (230), ginger unbleached (per kg) 250 (250), copra office Alapuzha (per quintal) 10,000 (10,000), copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 9,800 (9,800), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 16,800 (16,800), copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 12,000 (12,000).
