Black pepper weakens in lacklustre trade

Black pepper weakened further in an otherwise lacklustre spices market here today on poor demand from stockists and retailers amid subdued export offtake.

While, Other spices ruled stable in the absence of any worthwhile buying.

Black pepper prices fell by Rs 5/5 per kg to Rs 675/760 from Tuesday's close Rs 680/765.

Following are today's closing rates (in Rs with previous rates in brackets):

Black pepper (per kg) 675/760 (680/765), ginger bleached (per kg) 140 (140), ginger unbleached (per kg) 160 (160), copra office Alapuzha (per quintal) 6,500 (6,500), copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 6,400 (6,400), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 10,700 (10,700), copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 8,000 (8,000).
