Black pepper weakens on poor demand, good arrivals

Black pepper weakened further at the spices market here following persistent selling by stockists amid subdued export demand as well as good arrivals from producing regions.

Elsewhere, rest all other spices ruled stable in the absence of any worthwhile buying.

Black pepper fell by Rs 25/15 per kg to Rs 610/700 as against Thursday's closing level of Rs 635/715.

Following are today's closing rates (in Rs with previous rates in brackets):

Black pepper (per kg) 610/700 (635/715), ginger bleached (per kg) 200 (200), ginger unbleached (per kg) 220 (220), copra office Alapuzha (per quintal) 9,600 (9,600), copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 9,500 (9,500), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 16,000 (16,000), copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 12,000 (12,000).
