Black pepper weakens on sluggish demand

Black pepper weakened further at the spices market here today following sluggish demand from stockists and retailers.

Elsewhere, copra prices also fell owing to subdued demand from stockists and retailers amid lower export offtake.

Black pepper moved down by Rs 10/10 per kg to Rs 650/720 from Monday's close Rs 660/730.

Copra office Alappuzha and copra office Kozhikode slipped by Rs 100 per quintal to Rs 8,900 and Rs 8,800 as compared Rs 9,000 and Rs 8,900 yesterday.

Copra Rajapur Mumbai and copra edible Mumbai also declined by Rs 100 per quintal to Rs 9,900 and Rs 9,900 as against Rs 10,000 and Rs 10,000.

Black pepper (per kg) 650/720 (660/730), ginger bleached (per kg) 130 (130), ginger unbleached (per kg) 150 (150), copra office Alappuzha (per quintal) 8,900 (9,000), copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 8,800 (8,900), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 9,900 (10,000), copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 9,900 (10,000).
