A major fire caused by a short-circuit damaged part of Ravindra Bhawan auditorium in the city today.

However, nobody was injured in the incident.

"The fire damaged the audio control room situated in the upper portion of the auditorium. The cause of the blaze was short-circuit," Bogdapul Fire Station in-charge Akthar Ali said.

The blaze, which started around 11:30 am, was brought under control after two hours by 12 fire tenders and six water tankers, he said.

Ravindra Bhawan manager Manmohan Singh said the audio control room has suffered an extensive damage with the fire affecting its lighting and sound system.

"However, there is no damage to other portion of the auditorium that was renovated recently," he said, adding that the quantum of the damage to property is being assessed.

Ravindra Bhawan is a major hub for hosting cultural programmes in the city.
