Blistering heat sweeps Har, Pb; Hisar sizzles at 44.7 C

Blistering heat today swept Punjab and Haryana, with Hisar sweating it out at 44.7 degrees Celsius, as several places in the two states recorded the season's highest temperature so far.

Hisar in Haryana was four degrees above normal and was the hottest place in the two states, MeT Department said here.

Narnaul experienced sweltering heat at 42.3 deg C while Ambala's maximum settled at 41.4 deg C, both four degrees above normal.

Chandigarh also recorded the hottest day of the season as maximum temperature shot up to 41.1 deg C, up four notches, crossing the 40 deg C mark for the first time this year.
 

In Punjab, Amritsar and Ludhiana sizzled at 42.3 and 43.2 deg C respectively, both five notches above normal.

Patiala's maximum settled at 41.9 deg C, four degrees more than normal.
