The Lokayukta police today arrested a Block Education Officer (BEO) in Jhabua district of Madhya Pradesh while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 13,500 from a teacher.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Praveen Baghel said that Shakuntala Shankhwar, BEO of Petlawad area in Jhabua district, was arrested red-handed at her office when she was accepting the money.
She had allegedly demanded the bribe to sanction two bills of a total of Rs 40,000, related to purchase of stationery and other expenses.
The complainant alleged that Shankhwar had already taken Rs 2,500 from him, DSP Baghel said.
