A block education officer in Morena district of Madhya Pradesh was caught red-handed while allegedly accepting bribe from a teacher for doing an official favour, Lokayukta Police said today.
Kailaras tehsil block education officer Meghsingh Barelia in the district was nabbed yesterday while taking bribe of Rs 5,000 on complainant of teacher Manisha Tyagi for allowing her to join duty as a "Prerak" in the education department and also clearing her arrears amount, Lokayukta's DSP H B Khandekar said.
According to the teacher's complaint, Tyagi was appointed as 'Prerak' (inspirator) on May 20, 2013 but did not receive the joining letter till date. When she approached Barelia on the issue, he demanded Rs 10,000 as bribe for issuing her joining letter and clearing payment of arrears.

An associate of Barelia identified as Ravi Jatav was also nabbed by the Lokayukta Police for acting as a conduit, he said, adding, a case has been registered in this regard and further probe was on.
