Vehicular movement was today affected on NH 31C here following a road blockade call given by All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) members and supported by pro-talk NDFB (Progressive) and the Peoples Joint Action Committee for Bodoland Movement (PJACBM).

Movement of traffic was disrupted on the highway, the main link between the North East Region and the mainland, in response to the blockade which called for immediate creation of 'Bodoland' state and started at 5 am, a police officer said.

Hundreds of slogan shouting picketers demonstrated with placards at different places in support of their demand.

Due to the blockade, long distance vehicles were periodically being taken in convoys with security escort.

The outfits demanded fulfillment of their '48-year long demand' for 'Bodoland' state from Sankosh to Sadiya on the north bank of river Brahmaputra.
