Terming the blocking of potato export to other states as a measure which would only worsen the situation, opposition leader Surjya Kanta Mishra today said West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee should discuss with the chief ministers of other states on how to solve potato crisis.
"Blocking potato export to other states won't solve the crisis. It would only aggravate the situation. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee should sit for discussion with chief ministers of other states to solve the crisis," Mishra, a CPI(M) Politburo member, said here.
With Mamata Banerjee deciding to stop export of potato to other neighbouring states like Bihar, Odisha and Jharkhand in an effort to control the sharp rise in potato prices in the state, a series of road blockades have also been reported from Odisha where trucks laden with fish and vegetables have been blocked from getting into Bengal.
