The Jammu and Kashmir government has directed all educational institutions to launch an awareness campaign and set up counselling cells in respective districts to tackle the macabre 'Blue Whale' challenge.
"Chief Education Officers (CEOs) of Jammu division have been directed to launch comprehensive awareness drive in educational institutions under their jurisdiction," Director, School Education, Jammu, Ravinder Singh said today.
He called for framing awareness committees of school principals and other officials and also use social media, print and electronic media for the purpose.

A weekly report on this campaign should be sent to the directorate office, he said.
The internet menace commonly known as Blue Whale challenge has created panic in different parts of the world, including India.
Singh said it was a matter of great concern since youngsters, particularly school going children, have been targeted in this internet game.
It has been observed that teenagers particularly those having easy access to internet are so vulnerable to the menace (of this game), thus necessitating the launch of a comprehensive awareness drive for making students aware about ill effects of this game, the official added.
