Additional Sessions Judge Vimal Kumar Yadav jailed driver Mool Chand, upholding a magisterial court December 2011 order, which had also imposed a fine of Rs 2,000 on him.
"There appears to be no ground, which may warrant interference with the judgment. Accordingly, the same (plea) is declined. The appeal of the appellant (Chand) stands dismissed. Chand be taken into custody and sent to jail to serve the sentence," the sessions court said.
The session court ruling came on an appeal by Mool Chand, sentenced to a year in jail by the magisterial court.
The prosecution case dated back to October 10, 2000 when Riyaz-ul-Haq had fallen off the Blueline bus, being driven rashly and negligently by Mool Chand.
According to complainant and Haq's wife Noori, her husband had sustained severe head injury and it proved fatal. She said the mishap took place when she and her husband were deboarding the bus at Kashmiri Gate ISBT here.

She said she had alighted first from the bus and before her husband could step out of it, the driver had suddenly increased its speed and her husband fell down.
"When the victim and his wife wanted to deboard from the bus, that too from the front door, the bus driver ie; the appellant was duty bound to take care of this fact that bus is properly stopped to facilitate the passengers to get down," said the court.
Chand had alleged that the case against him was false and fabricated.
