Rubbishing Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal's claim that he was in jail at the time of Operation Bluestar, Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh today said "either he has lost his memory or is deliberately lying to mislead people".

Amarinder said he would be releasing documents in due course of time to establish that Badal was "very much a free man before and after Operation Bluestar and was arrested much later".

In a statement here, the former Chief Miniser dared Badal to prove him wrong on this point.

Referring to Badal's claim during an interaction with reporters here yesterday, Amarinder said "either he (Badal) has lost his memory or is deliberately lying to mislead the people."

Amarinder said Badal was very much a free man and went into hiding to avoid confronting the situation building up in the state before Operation Bluestar.

"It was much later after Operation Bluestar that Badal was arrested or got himself arrested," he said.

"He (Badal) is saying I am lying and I am saying he is lying. Let us leave it to people to make their own judgement based on facts," the CWC member said.

Yesterday, Badal had hit out at Amarinder saying it was unfortunate the former Chief Minister was making false and baseless claims about him pertaining to Operation Bluestar.
