The personnel of Special Investigation Team (SIT), investigating the alleged cheating by Sanjeevani Buildcon Private Limited, caught Anita Nandini Dayal alias Anita Nandi at Satara district in Maharashtra yesterday and brought on transit remand, the sources said.
They said this was the first big catch by SIT after it was set up by Jharkhand government under the CID.
Nandi is said to be the wife of Jayant Dayal alias J D Nandi, the alleged kingpin of the company.
The company faces charges of wounding up office and its founders allegedly fled with money accumulated from customers with a promise to build low-cost flats for them in the state capital, the police said.
The arrest came soon after the police registered an FIR against some persons of the company, including the Nandis, after the alleged fraud came in light last month.
