RPI president Ramdas Athawale today accused the Centre and the Bihar government of failing to take steps to avert the terror strike at the world famous Buddhist pilgrimage town of Bodh Gaya in which two monks were injured.
"Both union Home ministry and Bihar government were informed about the possibility of terror attack on Bodh Gaya in advance. However, they did not take any preventive measures," Athawale told PTI.
Republican Party of India (RPI) is the constituent of 'Mahayuti' (grand alliance) of BJP and Shiv Sena in Maharashtra.
Nine serial explosions rocked Bodh Gaya, including four in the Mahabodhi Temple complex, injuring two monks.
Condemning the attack, the Dalit leader said that it was ironical that terrorists struck the very centre of peace where Gautam Buddha had attained enlightenment.
Athawale demanded security across Buddhist pilgrim centres to be beefed up across the country following the incident.
He said that RPI would hold protests at various places in the state to condemn the attack.
