Bodies of 12 victims of the Bangalore-Nanded train fire tragedy in Andhra Pradesh are yet to be handed over to their relatives, who are awaiting DNA test results, Railway officials said today.
The bodies of all the 26 victims have been identified, the officials said.
"Fourteen bodies have been handed over to relatives so far, though all 26 bodies have been identified. Twelve of them are yet to be handed over as relatives of the passengers have decided to wait for the DNA test results to be clear of any ambiguity," Additional Divisional Railway Manager, Bangalore, Sunanda Arul told PTI here.
Railway officials said "DNA results are awaited; we expect them to come by tomorrow afternoon."
The bodies were brought to government-run Victoria Hospital here from the accident site near Sathya Sai Prashanthinilayam station in Ananthpur district.
A devastating fire had swept through an AC coach of the Bangalore-Nanded Express train on Saturday, claiming 26 lives and leaving 13 others injured.
