Bodies of Andaman boat accident victims cremated

The bodies of 14 persons, who died when a tourist boat carrying them capsized in the Andaman sea, were cremated here today, after family members, locals and political party leaders paid homage.

Shipping Minister G K Vasan, TNCC president B S Gnanadesikan and others paid floral tributes to the victims.

Bodies of two of the 16 victims from Kancheepuram were buried yesterday.

A majority of the victims in the January 26 mishap were natives of Kancheepuram.

At least 21 persons died, 29 were rescued and one person was missing when the ferry carrying passengers beyond its capacity capsized in the Andaman Sea in the Andaman and Nicobar islands.
