The bodies of a man and his teenaged son were today recovered from a check dam on Mahisagar River near here, five days after the duo had gone missing, police said.

Police said that Harish Parmar (38) had left his rented house at Gorwa locality in Vadodara along with his only son, 13-year-old Samarth, on Monday evening.

"A missing complaint was registered by his wife at Gorwa police station on Monday after they did not return home," the police official said.

Their bodies were fished out from a check dam on Mahisgar river at Sindhrot near Vadodara today, police said.

An official said that Parmar appeared to have committed suicide by jumping into the river, along with his teenage son, from a bridge above.

The family belonged to Karodiya village on the outskirts of Vadodara, but were living in Gorwa locality where Parmar ran a tuition class, the official added.

The official said the cause of the deaths was being investigated.
