The bodies of a woman and her 2-year-old daughter were today fished out from River Jhelum in Anantnag district of Kashmir, 19 days after the duo reportedly went missing, police said.

The bodies of Afroza (28) and her daughter Zaira were found in the river at Semthan village of Bijbehara, 45 kms from here, they said.

The mother-daughter duo was reported missing from their village Amirpora-Nambal in Mattan area of Anantnag district on February 7.

"The bodies have been sent to district hospital Anantnag for postmortem," a police official said.

Dozens of residents assembled outside the district hospital and raised slogans against the "double murder". They also demanded arrest of those involved in the crime, police added.
