The police today recovered the body of a man from a flat locked from inside in Rishra's Bangur Park area in Hooghly district.
The body was unidentified as that of Supriyo Chatterjee (46), who was working as a clerk in the Calcutta High Court, police said adding, Chatterjee was also a small time fish trader.
"The victim used to stay alone in the flat and visited his mother regularly who stayed nearby. We were informed by Chatterjee's mother that he had not come to meet her for the past two days. Today we went to the flat and then broke open to find the man lying dead in a pool of blood," said Additional Superintendent of Police (Industrial) Amitava Verma.
"We have initiated a murder case. We think the victim might have made some enemies while trading in fish. Investigations are on," Verma added.
