The body of an eight-year-old girl was found in an agricultural field in outer Delhi's Badli area, police said today.
Police have registered a case of murder in this connection and said they have not ruled out the possibility of sexual assault. The girl's father is a farm labourer and works in the agricultural field in which her body was found.
The girl was last seen before going to sleep last night in a makeshift bed outside her cottage. She was not there this morning. As her parents started looking for her, it was her father who found her body in the field, police said.

"A case of murder has been registered and police are questioning a few people," said DCP (Outer) Vikramjit Singh.
The spot where the body was found is hardly 50m away from the cottage occupied by the girl's family, which had migrated from Bhagalpur in Bihar last year. There is a godown and another such cottage, each around 200m away from where the girl's body was found.
There is nothing else in the vicinity, the official said.
